On the things we build and the things we consume.
transparency, customization, and homegrown twitter birds
We’ve found that smidgen of time to customize the Twitter backgrounds for some accounts, @atlasapi and @metabroadcast, and decided to follow the @twitterapi model of signing tweets, where ^JA stands for John Ayres. Of course, turning this into a habit will take serious practice, yet each time we get it right you’ll have a chance to know who’s talking. We also used the opportunity to expose our homegrown bird once more. Sketched in April for the website sidebar, it made our front-end collaborator @JamieKnight proclaim:
Homegrown twitter birds, so much better than premade twitter birds! 99% of people agree. 8 out of 10 cats also agree that homegrown twitter birds taste better.Meanwhile, Google Maps knows and shows where our headquarters is, so all in all, we’re getting more transparent by the day. As someone who fought and lost the transparency battle one too many times in communication positions before, I haven’t learned a thing: transparency IS the way.
